Miike Snow is about to explode

September 9, 2009

miiiiiiike snow

With a fresh-as-homegrown debut album, a world tour beginning next week and remixes by just about every knob-turner out there, Miike Snow is about to hit the scene hard. Yes haters, I know their album has been out since May and they’ve toured some earlier this summer, but I’ve got a feeling this tour is going to push them out of the indie-underground and, if they’re not careful, into the mainstream.  The album’s production is ridiculous which is not surprising when two-thirds of the band make up the production duo Bloodshy & Avant who wrote and produced Britney’s Grammy-award winning smash “Toxic” as well as hits by Kylie Minogue and Madonna.  The third piece, and vocalist, is Andrew Wyatt, the go-to producer for Downtown Record’s roster.  Luckily, they’ve saved their best work for this project.  There’s twisted vocals and speed-bleeps alongside simple piano and soaring harmonies…everything in its right place.

Both Mercury Lounge dates and Maxwell’s are sold out next week so call your connects and figure it out.  All dates after the jump.  A couple of cuts and Ronson’s new reggae-remix below.
