Allman Brothers honor special guest Billy Gibbons: don beards and shades

Last night at the Beacon Theatre (3/24), as a tribute to special guest Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, the Allman Brothers Band emerged to start the second set wearing replicas of Gibbon’s signature beard and black sunglasses. The uncharacteristic tounge-in-cheek tip of the cap by the band was a surprise not only to the crowd, but to Gibbons as well. After their first song together (“Jesus Just Left Chicago”), he told the crowd, “You never know what to expect from the Allman Brothers Band. Actually, they do have two rules. Number one, no drinking during gospel songs. Number two, no gospel songs.”
